Financial Support for Students Studying Away from Home (Mount Gambier and District Residents only)
Students who live in Mount Gambier or the surrounding District may be eligible to apply for financial support via the Mount Gambier and District Tertiary Health Education Grants Program.
This program commenced in 2007 and is aimed at encouraging those students whose principal place of residence is normally within the City of Mount Gambier or District (or where their immediate family resides), and who need to leave the region in order to undertake university studies in identified areas of need. These skills areas typically have a focus on medicine and allied health, and have been recognised as important to the Mount Gambier and District community.
Rural Australia Medical Undergraduate Scholarships (RAMUS)
The RAMUS Scheme is funded by the Australian Government and assists selected students with a rural background to study medicine at university. In addition to their rural background, RAMUS scholarship holders are selected on the basis of financial need and demonstrated commitment to working in rural Australia in the future.
Australian Rotary Health provides funding into a broad range of general health areas, as well as scholarships for rural medical and nursing students, including Indigenous health students. Australian Rotary Health is supported by a number of Rotary Clubs in Australia and has a broad vision to improve the health and wellbeing of all Australians.
