University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) Program
University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) Program: The Australian Government UDRH program encourages students of medicine, nursing and other health professions to pursue a career in rural practice by providing opportunities for students to practise their clinical skills in a rural or remote environment. It also supports health professionals currently practising in rural settings. This link includes more detail on the program and quick links to all Australian UDRHs.
Australian Rural Health Education Network (ARHEN): ARHEN is the body that represents all UDRHs and aims primarily to optimise the outcomes of the UDRH program through a coordinated approach to their activities and strategic directions. This link includes more information about ARHEN, profiles on each UDRH and details on a number of UDRH projects.
Flinders University and Deakin University: The GGT UDRH is a partnership between Flinders University's School of Medicine (Faculty of Health Sciences) and Deakin University's Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Behavioural Science.
Flinders University School of Medicine: The GGT UDRH is a Department within the Flinders University's School of Medicine's Rural and Remote Health Cluster. The School of Medicine is co-located with the Flinders Medical Centre, a public teaching hospital situated in Adelaide, South Australia.

Australian Clinical Educator Preparation Program: This program offers guidance and support to health professionals wanting to undertake training in clinical education (preceptorship) for health science undergraduates and graduates.
Australian Rural Education Foundation: This foundation provides independent and accredited education services to health professionals working in rural and remote Australia.
Statewide Allied Health Workforce Education Program (SAHWEP): Funded by the Deparment of Human Services - Victoria this GGT UDRH program supports the continuing professional development needs of allied health professionals through presentations and workshops, many of which are accessible online.
Department of Human Services Victoria - Region of Choice Program: A Victorian Government initiative that aims to recruit and retain allied health professionals in rural and regional Victoria.

Rural Workforce Agency Victoria (RWAV): Supporting Victoria's rural doctors this site contains information on recruitment, vacancies, support services and resources.
Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH): A nationally-recognised body representing rural and remote allied health professionals. SARRAH advocates for rural and remote allied health professionals and allied health practice on local, state and national levels. Primary Health Care Research and Information Service (PHCRIS): This site is a gateway for accessing a range of information about Australian primary health care. Specific links within this site can be accessed via PHCRED Research Resources.
Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute (APHCRI) (Australian National University): An Australian Government initiative established to help embed a research culture in Australian general practice and primary health care.
The following links are to state-based PHCRED programs. These PHCRED programs are typically collaborative partnerships between a number of university departments in each state. The sites are aimed at those interested in primary health care research and contain a wealth of information on the actual PHCRED programs, including resources to assist with research, support and funding opportunities, and education and training programs.

Flinders University Rural Health Society (FURHS): Flinders University's Rural Health Club. The site includes information on membership, club activities, clinical placement options and career opportunities.
Health and Community Service Careers: Funded by the Department of Human Services (Victoria) this site contains a wealth of information on careers in health for prospective students and their parents.
John Flynn Placement Program (JFPP): Funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing and administered by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), this site contains details and applications forms for the JFPP. The program covers the cost of travel and accommodation for students undertaking placement and is an important part of the Australian Government's strategy to attract more doctors to rural and remote areas to address areas of workforce shortage and to improve the quality of healthcare for rural and remote communities.
National Rural Health Students Network: Contains links to 29 Rural Health Clubs (RHCs) located throughout Australia. RHCs aim to promote rural and remote practice to their members through information exchange, placement opportunities, support and advocacy.
Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Medicine and Allied Health (NOMAD): Deakin University's Rural Health Club for students. The site includes information on club activities, as well as careers opportunities in rural, regional or remote areas.
